News Blackout On Nebraska Reactor

According to a report prepared by Russia's Federal Atomic Energy Agency on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Obama administration has ordered a "Total and complete" news blackout relating to the fire and loss of cooling at the flood besieged Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant. (above)

A fire took place on June 7th in a high voltage cable junction area of the plant, causing a loss of power to the spent fuel storage pools, an accident similar in nature to the one at Fukashima reactor #4. It must be stressed that according to reports the problem was solved and power has been restored. This is difficult to verify however as there has been a no-fly zone enforced over the plant since the day before the fire. The news blackout exacerbates rather than eases concern over the matter.

The plant is located 20 miles from Omaha, Nebraska in the heart of the largest grain producing area in America. A catastrophic event would have unimaginable consequences.

The clip below is the second of three containing an in-depth interview with Arnie Gunderson from Fairwinds on the situation at the Ft. Calhoun plant. It contains the most information on the accident. Links to part one and three are in the header.
